L.A. school locked down during manhunt for stabbing suspect

An elementary school was briefly placed on lockdown Tuesday while police in Alhambra searched for a stabbing suspect, authorities confirmed.
Officers with the Alhambra Police Department responded to an area near the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Spruce Street at around 2 p.m. on reports of a male victim suffering from a stab wound.
The suspect, described as an adult Hispanic male wearing black clothing fled the area before police arrived, prompting a manhunt for the suspect in the surrounding area.
Authorities said in a news release that as a precautionary measure, a nearby school, likely Garfield Elementary School which is less than a half mile from Atlantic Boulevard and Spruce Street, was placed on lockdown “to ensure the safety of students and staff.” Mother arrested after infant dies from ‘significant injuries’ in Santa Monica
“No students, teachers, or parents were involved in this incident, and no injuries were reported at the school,” police officials added. “The locked has since been lifted, and students have been released to their parents.”
Medical personnel with the L.A. County Fire Department responded to the scene and rushed the stabbing victim, who has not been identified, to a local hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition.
So far, it does not appear that any arrests have been made.
