A Mobile man is dead after he was ejected from his vehicle in a crash, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
ALEA troopers identified the man as 37-year-old Vernon Harshaw and said he was killed on Friday, Dec. 6, in a single-vehicle crash on Alabama 217 near the 11-mile marker, which is about a mile north of the Semmes city limits.

Troopers said that Harshaw was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
As a result, officials said he was ejected from his 2016 Dodge Charger when it left the roadway, went into a ditch, struck a culvert and overturned. Harshaw was then taken to USA Providence Hospital in Mobile, where he died from his injuries, an ALEA news release said.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the crash.
