new Avengers: Doomsday teaser is here. This time, it’s revealing the return of Letitia Wright’s character Shuri, who previously took up the Black Panther mantle, and the Fantastic Four, who she will team up in the upcoming film.

The new video, which dropped Tuesday, opens with Shuri walking through a vast desert landscape. “I’ve lost everyone that matters to me,” she says as it cuts to shots of Namor (Tenoch Huerta) — the leader of the underwater kingdom Talokan, which attacked Shuri’s Wakanda in previous films — and his cousin Namora (Mabel Cadena).

“The king has his duties to prepare our people for the afterlife,” Shuri continues. “I have mine.”

Despite the somber tone of the teaser, it does end on a lighter note, when Winston Duke’s King M’Baku introduces himself to Ben Grimm, aka the Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), from Fantastic Four.

“King M’Baku, of Wakanda,” Duke’s character says.

“Ben,” the Thing replies. “Yancy Street, between Broome and Grand.”

Black Panther and the Fantastic Four have a long history together in the extended Marvel universe, as the original Black Panther character was introduced in a 1966 Fantastic Four comic. Whether the characters will work together — and how — remains to be seen.

Shuri took on the Black Panther title in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her ascendance followed the death of the original Black Panther, T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, who died from cancer in 2020.

Shuri previously united with the Avengers in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame to fight Thanos (Josh Brolin) after he erased half of all life forms in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. Shuri was among those who disappeared in the event, known as the Snap.

This time around, she and the Avengers will need to battle a different villain: Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who previously starred in the MCU as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.

In recent months, Marvel has dropped other teasers, revealing that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will return to the Avengers franchise, and that the X-Men will be brought into the fold for the first time.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
