Woman shares story after violent carjacking at gunpoint in North Las Vegas
A North Las Vegas woman told 8 News Now she is still trying to come to terms with what happened after she was the victim of a violent carjacking.
“I didn’t know if I was going to die,” Nitalia Ragonese-Albert said.
Ragonese-Albert walked 8 News Now through what she called the most terrifying moment of her life.
“I haven’t been able to sleep,” she said. “I struggle to eat now.”
The 19-year-old said she was visiting an apartment complex near Losee Road and Centennial Parkway last Wednesday night when she said two men in masks approached her.
“They had the ski masks,” she recalled. “The ones where you can literally only see eyes.”
Ragonese-Albert said they pulled her out of her car, threw her to the ground, and held her at gunpoint while stealing her things. She said they then drove away in her car.
“My purse falls, he snatches my purse,” she recalled. “He’s trying to grab my phone from me. I’m stuck on the floor.”
The vehicle was recovered a day later, according to North Las Vegas Police, but officers said they are still searching for the thieves.
“It’s scary knowing that they are still out there,” Ragonese-Albert said.
She told 8 News Now that she hopes her story will encourage anyone who has seen something to come forward.
“I am just so traumatized by it,” she added. “Because I have never had that happen before.”
Ragonese-Albert said she also wants to remind others to always be aware and ready in case the worst happens.
“You really just have to be cautious,” she concluded. “Because anything can happen at any moment.”
