North Little Rock Officer Tommy Norman arrested on Saturday

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARK. – North Little Rock Officer Tommy Norman was arrested shortly before midnight on Saturday.
According to a release from the North Little Rock Police Department, Norman, a 27-year veteran of the department, is facing a charge of third degree domestic battery. He is currently being held without bond at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility.
In an arrest report, officers said that when they spoke to Norman’s wife, she said he struck her on the right side of her chest with the back of his hand during an argument. Officers said that they saw a slight injury visible on her chest.
The arrest report also said that when Norman spoke to officers, he told them he was being slapped and caused the injury while trying to block the slaps. Officers did not report seeing any injuries on Norman.
Norman has become well known over the course of his career with his social media presence and community policing, which has gained worldwide recognition.
The North Little Rock Police Department released a statement saying, “In accordance with departmental policy, Officer Norman has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the judicial process and an internal investigation.”
