Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Billy Joel perform live.

The “Uptown Girl” icon, 75, took to Instagram on March 11 and informed fans he’s postponing his upcoming tour for four months due to a “medical condition,” as he must “undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors” to recover following a recent surgery.

According to a statement shared by his team, the postponed dates consist of eight shows throughout North America and Europe, some of which are co-headlined with Sting and Stevie Nicks. Joel shared rescheduled dates for seven of the eight shows, with the final one labelled “TBD.”

“Joel is expected to make a full recovery,” continued his team’s statement. “The tour will resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.”

The “Vienna” musician also shared a statement of his own with fans. “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” he said.

“I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans,” wrote Joel. “Thank you for your understanding.”

Following his show at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, his tour will continue with shows in cities including New York City, Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, New Orleans and more. The full schedule is available at his website.

Joel recently took a fall during a Feb. 22 concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, appearing to stumble, fall backward and land on his side during a performance of 1980’s “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.”

According to footage of the concert, the Grammy winner quickly recovered and got back on his feet as the audience applauded.
