19-year-old suspect arrested after 4 fatally shot, found inside burning Lancaster home
A 19-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday after four people were killed in a shooting and found inside a burning Lancaster home.
The suspect was identified as Miguel Sandoval, 19, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
On Nov. 16, shortly before 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting at a home on the 44500 block of Tabler Avenue. Authorities believed a party was being held at the residence during the deadly incident.
Heavy smoke and flames were seen engulfing the home. Five victims were found inside — three people were found dead at the scene and a fourth person later died at the hospital.
On Nov. 21, authorities identified them as Edwin Garcia, Christine Aca-ac, Matthew Montebello and Janvi Maquindang. They were only described as “young adults in their 20s.” The fifth victim, a 16-year-old girl, was uninjured.
She was found hiding in her room and was the person who called the authorities for help.
The suspected gunman fled the scene but was located and arrested hours later. The events leading up to the deadly shooting and house fire remain unclear.
“Investigators believe this was an isolated incident,’ LASD said. “The case is still being actively investigated and no further details about the case will be shared in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation.”
The case will be presented to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Nov. 25.
